The popularity of R as a programming language has increased substantially over the past few years. Despite this rising popularity, there has been little systematic evaluation of the performance of R execution environments. To help initiate this evaluation process, we introduced LinpackR, which is a port to the R language of the popular Linpack benchmark program.
